​RUNWAY 10/28 & TAXIWAY A REHABILITATION

​September 21 – November 5, 2026

The Greeley-Weld County Airport Authority is completing a major pavement rehabilitation project on Runway 10/28 and Taxiway A. Construction is scheduled to begin September 21, 2026, and continue through November 5, 2026.
The project will be completed in four phases to maintain access to as much of the airport as possible throughout construction. The project will involve the application of asphalt rejuvenator, paint, and tie in of the new Taxiway B1 connector.

RUNWAY 10/28 WILL BE CLOSED FOR THE DURATION OF THE PROJECT.

Runway 17/35 will remain open.

​CURRENT PROJECT STATUS

Construction Begins September 21

• Runway 10/28 is scheduled to close beginning Monday, September 21, and remain closed through the anticipated completion of construction on November 5.
• Taxiway closures and aircraft routing will change as the project progresses through Phases A, B, C, and D.
• Pilots and airport users should review current NOTAMs and airport communications before operating at GXY.

Construction phases

Phase A:

• During Phase A, rehabilitation work will focus primarily on Runway 10/28 west of Taxiway D and Taxiway A west of A2.
• Runway 10/28, Taxiway A west of A2, Taxiways A1 through A4, and Taxiway C south of C1 will be closed.​
• Runway 17/35, Taxiway A east of A2, Taxiway D, and the terminal area will remain available. ​
  

Hangar access will remain available using designated taxi routes.

Phase B:

• During Phase B, work will move to Taxiway A between A2 and Taxiway D.
• Runway 10/28 will remain closed. Taxiway A west of Taxiway D, Taxiways A1, A3 and A4, and Taxiway C south of Runway 10/28 will also be closed.
• Taxiway A2 and the portion of Runway 10/28 between A2 and Taxiway D will be available for taxi operations only, providing continued access between portions of the airport.

Hangar access will remain available using designated taxi routes.​

Phase C:

• During Phase C, construction will shift to the eastern portion of Runway 10/28, Taxiways A3 and A4, and Taxiway D.
• Runway 10/28 and portions of Taxiway A will remain closed while Runway 17/35, Taxiway C, the terminal area, and Taxiway A east of A2 remain available.

Hangar access will remain available using designated taxi routes.

Phase D:

• Phase D will include rehabilitation of Taxiway A east of Taxiway C.
• During this phase, Runway 10/28, Taxiways A1 through A4, Taxiway D, and portions of Taxiway A will remain closed.
• Runway 17/35, Taxiway C, and Taxiway A between A2 and Taxiway C will remain available.
• Aircraft access to the east hangar area will be temporarily unavailable during Phase D.

Airport staff will provide additional notice before Phase D begins so affected tenants can plan accordingly.
