The closure of Runway 17/35 at Greeley-Weld County Airport has been extended through July 31, 2026, as work continues on the taxiway tie-in project.
The contractor has experienced an unforeseen delay related to the sourcing and approval of materials required for the project. Additional time is needed to complete the remaining work and ensure all project requirements are met. We recognize the impact the extended closure has on airport users and appreciate everyone's continued patience and cooperation. Runway 10/28 remains available for aircraft operations, subject to normal operating conditions. We will continue to provide updates as the project progresses. The Greeley-Weld County Airport Authority will be hosting a special meeting on Friday, July 10th, 2026 at 3:00PM MT.
The purpose of the meeting is to discuss and consider two Federal Aviation Grant Agreements in connection with the Runway 17/35 Rehabilitation Project. More information can be found on the Board Meetings page of the website. To facilitate an accelerated project schedule and maximize construction progress this week, Runway 17/35 will now close beginning Tuesday, June 16, 2026, at approximately 0800L.
This revised schedule will allow contractors to complete the initial phase of work prior to the weekend and is intended to reduce the potential for delays as the project progresses. While completion of this initial phase will not result in the runway reopening, it is expected to improve overall project efficiency and help keep construction activities on schedule. Runway 10/28 will remain open and available throughout the project. Pilots are encouraged to monitor all applicable NOTAMs and plan accordingly. We appreciate the cooperation and flexibility of our airport users as these important airfield improvements move forward. |
