MAINTENANCE TECHNICIAN II
POSITION SUMMARY:
Under the direct supervision of the Airport Maintenance Supervisor, conducts general and specific maintenance activities on all airport grounds, improvements, buildings and systems, supervises other personnel engaged in maintenance activities in the absence of the Airport Maintenance Supervisor, and perform administrative functions relevant to required duties.
DUTIES:
1. Carries out repairs of airport facilities including grounds, buildings, airfield systems and equipment.
2. Operates light and heavy equipment while carrying out the normal functions of the position, including dump trucks, loaders, mowing equipment, and other equipment related to the maintenance of the airport.
3. Assists in maintaining airport equipment, and carries out repairs and preventive maintenance inspections and service.
4. Performs weed control activities including spraying, burning, or other techniques deemed necessary. Mitigates the build-up of tumble weeds from airport fences, gates, and drainage culverts as necessary.
5. Performs airfield inspections on scheduled weekend day.
6. Assists in airport emergencies as specified in the airport emergency plan.
7. Operates snow removal equipment during snow events.
8. Remains on call during non-duty hours and responds to the airport during snow events.
9. Performs weekly airfield lighting inspections and makes repairs as necessary.
10. Makes repairs to airport owned buildings including hangar door repair, painting, cleaning, landscaping, sprinkler repair, etc.
11. Assists in maintaining terminal building cleanliness.
APPOINTMENT: The Airport Maintenance Technician II is appointed by the Airport Director.
The position reports to the Airport Maintenance Supervisor.
SUPERVISION:
The person in this position works under the general supervision of the Airport Maintenance Supervisor, but routinely works unsupervised while performing most tasks. He/She is responsible for meeting the requirements of the job while operating within specific policy and procedural guidelines. He/ She may routinely work without direct supervision, and is held responsible for all associated activities, including all maintenance requirements of all airport facilities.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Competent in operating and repairing heavy equipment, including dump trucks, loaders, snow plows etc. general understanding of electrical and plumbing fixtures and their repair or replacement. Must possess a valid Colorado Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) with an acceptable driving record. Must be able to work weekends, holidays and on call for snow emergency events. This position works Tuesday through Saturday.
EDUCATION:
High school Graduate or equivalent GED.
EXPERIENCE:
Two years of experience in general maintenance activities and the operation of heavy equipment.
PAY:
$20.50/HR ($42,640.00/YR)
